Case Study: Flow Control Application

A client approached Axis with a non-standard part for a flow control application.
Conventional manufacturing required them to have this part be assembled from 12 pieces: Six water jet cut discs ($230) as well as one central tube and five spacers, all precision machined ($270). Taking into account labour and transportation, the price is well in excess of $500 per unit and a week’s time.

Using our EOS DMLS station, we produced the same part (shown below) and got it into the hands of our client in the same week we received the quote. Total cost was $158.
